报告主要内容:

The first step toward industrial noise control is to locate the sound source and understand its characteristics. This is often easier said than done because in engineering application, because one cannot see sound and test conditions and environment are arbitrary. There is in general no analytic solution to such a scenario and a practical approach to measure the sound pressures and/or sound intensities at some ad hoc points to get an idea of the locations and characteristics of sound sources. Such an approach is often trial and error based, and is not effective. This paper presents a comprehensive tool, known as Sound Viewer, for locating sound sources and analyzing the resultant sound fields in 3D space under virtually any test environment. The principles of Sound Viewer are based on the passive SODAR (Sonic Detection And Ranging) and HELS (Helmholtz Equation Least Squares) method. The former enables one to locate arbitrary sound sources in 3D space and the latter allows for visualization of sound field in 3D space as well as on arbitrarily shaped source surfaces. The combination of SODAR and HELS technologies enables us to the time-space-frequency-visual-audio effects of the sound sources and their fields, so as to facilitate the analyses and understanding when and where sounds are generated and what the sources strengths, frequency components, and sound pressure distribution in 3D space are. Such a comprehensive diagnostic tool will enable engineers to acquire a better understanding of complex noise sources, which can lead to the development of optimal noise mitigation strategies in a very cost-effective manner.
